LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22, 2015 -- Sweetwater Tech Resources (STR) has selected Water Planet as the water treatment solutions provider for two regional produced water recycling centers in the Bakersfield, California area.
The goal of the project is to give local oil and gas producers a reliable, economic and sustainable option for converting the billions of gallons of oil contaminated water generated annually in the region into clean water streams that could be used productively by local industrial and agricultural businesses.
Water Planet’s CEO, Eric Hoek, joined Sweetwater Tech Resources’ General Manager, Dundee Kelbel, at an open Town Hall meeting to discuss the planned Wasco and Lost Hills facilities, which will utilize Water Planet’s IMS-5000 Integrated Produced Water Treatment Solution. At full capacity, the Wasco and Lost Hills facilities would recycle up to 800,000 and 4,000,000 gallons of produced water per day.
Attendees at the Town Hall meeting included representatives from oil and gas companies, engineering firms, agricultural companies, government officials and local citizens who convened to discuss the project. Pilot scale demonstrations for oil and gas producers and potential customers of the treated water will begin in the first quarter of 2016.
“STR is pleased to be working with the Water Planet team on advanced water solutions for the targeted oil and gas market. STR's experience, established relationships and core business development capabilities blends well with Water Planet's innovative, creative and flexible engineered systems to provide a powerful solution to the oil and gas industry,” said Kelbel.
Hoek added, “We are very happy that STR has selected Water Planet as its water treatment solutions provider for this ambitious and needed water recycling facility. We believe STR has a great vision, and we look forward to being part of the team that delivers this first-of-a-kind regional treatment facility.”
Water Planet’s award-winning, proprietary IMS-5000 technology is a highly effective, affordable and reliable produced water treatment solution due to its unique hydraulic design, pre-integrated mechanical oil-water separator, robust ceramic ultrafiltration membranes and automated self-adaptive process controls powered by IntelliFlux™.
