Nov. 26, 2014 -- Royal HaskoningDHV, an independent, international engineering and project management consultancy, and VA Tech Wabag, a global water technology company, have signed a 10-year Cooperation Agreement to deliver an innovative wastewater treatment technology that uses aerobic granular biomass to the countries of India and Switzerland.

Called Nereda®, the new plant is more cost-effective than traditional water treatment methods and is up to four times smaller than traditional installations, consuming only half the energy and requiring no chemicals for the treatment process.

Wastewater management has been given a high priority in light of the recently adopted India National Water Policy. Underpinned by a multi-billion dollar government program, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment will be one of the most promising areas for future growth in India.

The Cooperation Agreement was signed on Wednesday, Nov. 5, by Rajiv Mittal, Wabag managing director and group CEO; Arnold Gmuender, Wabag Wassertechnik Switzerland COO; and René Noppeney, Royal HaskoningDHV global director for Water Products & Innovation.
