The Atlas Copco Group has been honored by three prominent organizations for its commitment to innovation and sustainability with inclusion in these publications’ annual lists that recognize global leaders who are committed to responsible stewardship.
Newsweek identified Atlas Copco in its 2012 Green Rankings as the No. 12 global industrial goods provider, a testament to the Swedish company’s environmental performance based on impact, management and reporting practices.
Atlas Copco has also been named by Forbes as among the world’s 100 most innovative companies and included in the Dow Jones Sustainability index for 2012-13, marking repeat appearances once again for the company, which is regularly recognized for its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
“Improvement isn’t going to come from anywhere but within, and one of the reasons Atlas Copco remains so successful, both in the United States and globally, is because of our commitment to continually look for ways to better our business,” said Paul Humphreys, vice president communications and branding for Atlas Copco Compressors, LLC. “We’re honored to be recognized once again by each of these groups for our commitment to innovation and sustainability, but we will by no means rest on this success.”
Forbes named Atlas Copco No. 84 among its top 100 most innovative companies, based on the company’s market capitalization when compared to anticipated cash flows. This, the magazine contends, calculates a premium that serves as an indicator of what return on investment can be expected in coming years as a result of the company’s current innovations. Atlas Copco also was included in the 2011 listing, ranked at No. 67.
Atlas Copco was first included in the Dow Jones Sustainability index in 2007-08 and appeared again for 2011-12. Inclusion in the sustainability index is based on annual company assessments and comparison to industry peers. Key factors in this review include management of opportunities and associated risk that are derived from economic, environmental and social developments. Corporate governance and strategy, as well as key performance indicators like emission and waste, are also taken into consideration.
