• Severn Trent Services' Capital Controls® gas chlorination systems have a well-established role in water and wastewater disinfection

FORT WASHINGTON, PA, Apr. 1, 2009 -- Severn Trent Services has recently made changes to its product distribution channel in the Midwestern United States. The changes will expand the company's distribution network and provide water and wastewater utilities in the region greater access to the Capital Controls® gas feed disinfection and instrumentation product lines. The Capital Controls product line, established in 1960, introduced the all vacuum-operated gas feed technology and remains a market leader.

Severn Trent Services' representatives and distributors include:
- Engineering America (Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota): Contact Tony Belden, 651-777-4041 or [email protected].
- Drydon Equipment, Inc (Illinois and Wisconsin): In Illinois, contact Woody Wolff, 224-629-4060 or [email protected]. In Wisconsin, contact Jeff Williamson, 262-827-9201 or [email protected].

Utilities currently using Capital Controls gas disinfection and other ancillary equipment from Severn Trent Services are urged to procure factory-issued spare parts from these newly appointed representatives and distributors. The use of unauthorized, non-factory issued spare parts can pose a health hazard for the public as well as utility operators. Unauthorized spare parts can cause a gas chlorinator to malfunction resulting in potentially serious safety hazards. Non-factory issued spare parts will also void manufacturer warranties and other claims against Severn Trent Services.

According to Jim Blundi, director of gas feed instrumentation for Severn Trent Services, "After more than 100 years of use, gas chlorination remains the most widely used form of disinfection treatment globally. In today's credit-crunched, bottom-line-oriented economic environment, utilities in the water and wastewater sectors are looking for ways to improve existing equipment performance with enhanced maintenance and system upgrades. Many utilities using chlorine gas disinfection systems are improving their existing equipment rather than replacing these systems."

Severn Trent Services, with global headquarters in Fort Washington, Pa., USA, is a leading supplier of water and wastewater solutions.
