BUFFALO GROVE, IL, Nov. 1, 2006 -- Dow Biocides, a business group of The Dow Chemical Company, is announcing a global price increase of 10% for both list and off list prices of its entire DBNPA (2,2-Dibromo-3-nitrilopropianamide) product portfolio. The price increase is effective globally on Dec. 1.

Product trade names for DBNPA from Dow Biocides include AQUCAR™ DBNPA water treatment microbiocides, Antimicrobial 7287, Antimicrobial 8536, DBNPA 100 P-Tech, DBNPA 100 Powder and DBNPA Powder Water Soluble Bags.

"Driven by the continued upward cost pressures in the market combined with the increasing costs in the highly regulated biocides industry, this price increase is necessary to enable continued reinvestment in our business," said Nanette Hermsen, global marketing manager for Dow Biocides.

DBNPA is a broad spectrum biocide used to control bacteria, yeast and algae in water treatment, pulp & paper, reverse osmosis, oil & gas and metalworking fluid applications.
