NORTHBOROUGH, MA, Feb. 24, 2006 -- Aspen Aerogels, the Massachusetts-based developer of aerogel nanotechnologies, will be exhibiting its ultra high performance insulation technology at SSTB 2006, the world's premier SubSea TieBack Conference and Exhibition, at Galveston's Moody Gardens, Feb. 28-March 2.
Aspen Aerogels supplies nanotechnology-enabled aerogels with insulating properties that outperform traditional materials by two to eight times, providing the thermal performance of aerogels in ready-to-use products impregnated with silica nanostructures. The ready-to-use format enables constructors and operators to make major savings in capital and operating expenditure, conserving energy and saving money in every stage of oil and gas construction, recovery, shipping and storage.
For the tieback industry, the advent of pipe-in-pipe flowline technology, the annular spaces containing ultra high performing Aspen aerogel, has eliminated the problems of subsea well flow cooling and hydrate formation, while also achieving ever-smaller pipe diameters. Reduced pipe size, vacuum-free and with maximum flexibility, means lower costs and higher performance at every stage of hydrocarbon construction and processing.
Where the maintenance of super cold temperatures is required as with LNG, as already large lines become even larger, and as line lengths grow from a few hundred yards to several miles -- as with offshore unloading stations - the use cutting-edge technology is mandatory.
