HITCHIN, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, Jan. 25, 2007 -- AquaGrip flange adaptors from Viking Johnson have assured the integrity of a new submarine water main between the old and new districts of the city of Stockholm.

The 1,000mm diameter steel main -- which has PE bends, where the flange adaptors are used -- has been laid in the bed of the Riddarfjarden, the lake that surrounds the complex of islands on which the city is built. It provides a new supply route to the old town, supplementing the existing main.

The order from Stockholm Vatten was won by VJ's distributor Industri Belos AB, which was able to supply references for the suitability of AquaGrip in this environment. The company also provided access to Viking Johnson's practical know-how on the best use of the couplings during the planning stages of the project.

AquaGrip pipe couplings and flange adaptors were developed to satisfy demand for a simple mechanical method of jointing PE pipe in accordance with WIS 4-24-01 Type 2 and equivalent country-specific standards for pull-out resistance.

The Viking Johnson AquaGrip range covers sizes from 63mm to 1600mm and can be customised to incorporate fixed or loose flanges in accordance with clients' requirements.
