Water Policy Conference brings water executives to Washington

WASHINGTON — AMWA members will gather today and Tuesday for a full roster of speakers at the association’s yearly conference.

WASHINGTON — Members of the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies will gather this week in Washington for the association's 2014 Water Policy Conference, according to a press release.

EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe will deliver today’s keynote address, noted the release, while others on the Monday morning program include political analyst Charlie Cook, Department of the Interior Deputy Secretary Michael Connor, DHS Assistant Secretary Caitlin Durkovich and EPA Office of Water Acting Assistant Administrator Nancy Stoner.

Afternoon speakers will be NOAA Climate Program Office Director Wayne Higgins, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Director of Civil Works Steven Stockton, EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water Director Peter Grevatt, Janney Montgomery Scott Managing Director Alan Schankel and Moody’s Investors Service Senior Vice President Eric Hoffman, the release reported.

On Tuesday, continued the release, key national legislators on the program will be Senators Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and John Boozman (R-Ark.), as well as Congressmen Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.), John Shimkus (R-Ill.), Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.), Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) and Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.).

According to the release, the afternoon agenda will feature U.S. Conference of Mayors Assistant Executive Director Kevin McCarty and a panel from water stakeholder organizations, including Clean Water Action National Campaigns Director Lynn Thorp, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators Executive Director Jim Taft and Environmental Council of the States Executive Director Alexandra Dunn.
