F&S forecasts significant growth for India’s municipal water and wastewater treatment market

EAST GRINSTEAD, West Sussex, England — A recent report by market analyst Frost & Sullivan (F&S) reveals that more than 20 cities in India are expected to substantially expand by 2032, creating “intense water stress.”

EAST GRINSTEAD, West Sussex, England — A recent report by market analyst Frost & Sullivan (F&S) forecasts that India’s urban population growth will create a substantial demand for municipal water and wastewater treatment systems adding 57 percent in revenue over five years, according to a news release by Desalination & Water Reuse (D&WR).

The report revealed that over 20 cities are expected to significantly expand by 2032, creating “intense water stress,” stated the release.

The release continued that due to the rise in population and urbanization, F&S projects that the Indian municipal water and wastewater treatment market will increase to $775 million (around INR 31 million), or 57 percent, by 2018.

The release noted that the report covers filtration, disinfection and membrane systems, pretreatment, clarification, desalination and activated sludge treatment, as well as primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.
