Smart H2O Summit keynote covers how to be an award-winning utility

SAN FRANCISCO — The presenting water district’s Groundwater Replenishment System won Singapore’s Lee Kwan Yew Water Prize.

SAN FRANCISCO — Orange County Water District (OCWD) Director of Health and Regulatory Affairs Jason Dadakis will deliver a keynote address during the Smart H2O Summit in August, according to a press release.

Dadakis’ will deliver his presentation “How to be a world-class, award-winning water utility” from 9:30-10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, noted the release. The event will be held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

OCWD won Singapore’s Lee Kwan Yew Water Prize for its Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS), largely recognized as the world’s largest potable water reuse project, stated the release.

“OCWD has clearly redefined the standard and demonstrated how communities can develop, implement and achieve sustainable water use,” shared the award committee chair in the release. “The GWRS has become an established blueprint for groundwater recharge and reuse schemes, and has inspired many countries and including Singapore.”

Smart H2O Summit co-chair John Pearson said in the release that “utility water stewards interested in learning how extraordinary foresight, planning and investment in new technology can significantly enhance their operations won’t want to miss this keynote presentation.”

Dadakis’ presentation will follow Felicia Marcus’ Monday keynote presentation on managing drought and the how communities wishing to upgrade infrastructure can receive financial assistance to do so, reported the release.
