Industrial Technology Research Institute introduced commercially viable nanofibrous thin film composite membrane for reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration. The PolyE membrane utilizes lower hydraulic pressure than conventional methods without compromising the level and quality of filtration, thus saving water desalination facilities money. The new Micropore Inc. design integrates with current RO systems, is inexpensive to mass produce and has the capability of lowering energy consumption by 30 to 80 percent.
