Schneider Electric announces Microsoft partnership

A new partnership with Microsoft improved Schneider Electric’s development of Open Internet of Things applications. Using Microsoft’s Azure and HoloLens capabilities, the partnership integrates mixed-reality (a combination of augmented reality and virtual reality) capabilities into the EcoStruxure for Industry architecture, which is a platform to help industrial customers increase the value of digital technologies and the Industrial Internet of Things.

H2O Innovation awarded $4.8 million in new contracts

H2O Innovation Inc. was awarded six new projects in the U.S., bringing the corporation’s project sales backlog to $58.2 million.

The first contract is a reverse osmosis system to replace an existing conventional electrodialysis reversal system at Lake Texoma on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. The second project consists of a skid mounted nanofiltration system expansion for a municipality in the North Slope of Alaska. Two additional contracts involve two municipalities in Montana – one with a wastewater facility and another involving municipal drinking water. The corporation has also won two smaller water treatment projects including a reverse osmosis facility in Florida and a FiberFlex UF in Michigan.

AECOM awarded $25 million task order contract with the USACE

AECOM was awarded a $25 million indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quality task order contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE ) New England District. The five-year contract includes National Environmental Policy Act planning and document preparation, multi-media environmental studies and monitoring, water quality studies, sediment analyses, economic and social impact analyses and studies, watershed studies, fisheries studies, hydrologic modeling and other related planning studies for USACE water resources projects.

New guidelines for saturated hydraulic conductivity in groundwater

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) released the Calculation of the Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Fine-Grained Soils, Standard ANSI/ASCE/EWRI 65-17, which provides guidelines for calculating saturated hydraulic conductivity, permeability and porosity of fine-grained soils. This standard is part of a series that enhances the understanding of the behavior of the saturated hydraulic conductivity, a key groundwater parameter. The standard can be applied to refine or improve calculations of the following:

  • Land subsidence
  • Groundwater flow prediction
  • The transport of dissolved solutes moving in groundwater

The method in this standard is limited to fine-grained, compressible, inorganic soils.
