WEFTEC 2015 preview

July 29, 2015

One world. One water. One event.

McCormick Place

Chicago, Illinois

September 26-30

The water world will gather in Chicago in September for the Water Environment Federation Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC). Following the industry trend of considering all water as an important global resource, WEFTEC’s theme this year is "One World. One Water. One Event." Each year, WEFTEC provides water industry professionals the opportunity to learn, network, view new products and services, and earn continuing education credits and PDH hours.

The opening session will feature commentary from Water Environment Federation (WEF) President Ed McCormick and a keynote address from award-winning biologist, photographer and filmmaker Rob Stewart. Stewart’s new film, Revolution, chronicles how a quest to save sharks turned into a need to save all life on Earth. According to WEFTEC’s site, "Stewart’s thought-provoking presentation will help frame the water sector’s own revolutionary efforts to transform sustainable water management and push water to the forefront of innovation."

Exhibit hours

Monday, Sept. 28            8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 29            8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 30      8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to WEF Executive Director Eileen O’Neill, "WEFTEC represents all water, all the time and has something of value for every segment of the profession. 2015 hot topics include direct and indirect potable reuse, co-digestion, energy management and production, nutrient recovery, wastewater treatment for industries such as oil and gas, stormwater, and more."

According to O’Neill, many companies traditionally use WEFTEC as the platform to launch new technologies, products and services. "This year, we expect to see a lot of interest in nutrient removal, energy recovery, and of course advance treatment technologies for reuse," O’Neill says. "Stormwater management continues to grow as an issue for our sector and at WEFTEC 2015, there will be a full suite of educational programming and a dedicated pavilion in the exhibition hall."

As the largest annual water-quality exhibition in the world, the expansive show floor provides access to cutting-edge technologies. Almost 1,000 exhibitors display the newest equipment to help water professionals do their jobs. At WEFTEC, 87 percent of the attendees are municipal and industrial treatment and water quality markets who want to learn about and purchase technology and services.
