ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Oct. 14, 2015 — The Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) 88th annual technical exhibition and conference held in September broke attendee and exhibitor records, according to a press release.

Registrants numbered 25,048, while 1,033 companies showcased their technologies across 311,600 net square feet of exhibit space, noted the release. The event took place Sept. 26-30 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

Chicago was the site of the first WEFTEC 88 years ago, stated the release. The conference rotates locations between Chicago and New Orleans, Louisiana.

"For more than 80 years, WEFTEC has been the world’s leading forum for water quality management. It’s the place to innovate, exchange knowledge, and connect with experts from across the continent, and around the world," said WEF Executive Director Eileen O’Neill in the release. "The record-breaking success of this year’s event is a testament to the value, diversity and depth for which WEFTEC is known and respected."

Abstracts for the 2016 New Orleans event will be accepted until Dec. 1, reported the release. The 89th edition of the conference will be held Sept. 24-28 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. Registration and housing will open in spring 2016.
