ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) announced it is now accepting applications for the 2015 Award for Excellence in Innovation and the Paul L. Bush Award, according to a press release.

The awards will be presented at this year’s WEFTEC event in Chicago during the annual WERF Subscriber Recognition Luncheon, stated the release.

The Award for Excellence in Innovation, reported the release, recognizes organizations that have made improvements to stormwater and wastewater collection, storage or treatment operations, facilities or processes by applying WERF research.

The Paul L. Busch Award, through the Endowment for Innovation in Applied Water Quality Research, is offering $100,000 to encourage researchers working in water reuse, biosolids, wastewater, watersheds, stormwater and other areas “to pursue groundbreaking research,” continued the release.

Applicants for the WERF awards may self-nominate or be nominated by a third party, and the deadline for application submissions is June 1, noted the release.
