LISLE, Ill. — The designation provides a new path to Master Service Technician status.

LISLE, Ill. — The Water Quality Association (WQA) has created a new professional designation called Certified Service Technician (CST), according to a press release.

Professionals can earn the certification by completing the service training curriculum in WQA’s Modular Education Program, noted the release. They must also pass the examination.

"The service training curriculum focuses on troubleshooting a treatment system based on its application, obtaining the necessary water tests for analyses, and correcting equipment problems," stated the release.

After earning the CST or Certified Installer designations, professionals can then progress to Master Service Technician status, reported the release. Requirements include completing coursework, passing examinations and gaining five years of active work experience in the field.

WQA required all certified professionals to accept its Code of Ethics for the Water Quality Improvement Industry.

"We’re thrilled to be able to offer a new certification path designed specifically for service technicians,” said Dr. Tanya Lubner, WQA’s director of Professional Certification & Education, in the release. “Certified professionals typically enjoy greater credibility with customers and a competitive advantage in the marketplace, as well as improved job performance, including fewer costly errors.”
