WRI releases report on USDA Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative

WASHINGTON — The MRBI could be a solution to protecting the Mississippi with reduced taxpayer funds.

WASHINGTON — The World Resources Institute (WRI) released a new paper today assessing the USDA's Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative (MRBI), according to a press release.

The MRBI is a promising new approach to clean up this critical watershed, noted the release.

The initiative concentrates a portion of taxpayer-supported conservation funds in high-priority targeted watersheds, which WRI found to be a better strategy than dispersing funds across the rural landscape, the release reported.
