Xedia acquired by newly formed midstream water solutions firm Blackbuck Resources

Xedia Process Solutions (XPS) has been acquired by Blackbuck Resources LLC (BBR), a newly formed midstream water solutions firm focused on the Permian Basin. BBR will be led primarily by the prior XPS management team and will be supported by an equity commitment from Cresta Energy Capital. XPS’s water treatment technology portfolio joined with a newly expanded team with experience in midstream and upstream sectors allows BBR to better serve the oil industry’s operators. The company will provide exploration and production (E&P) companies with a one-stop shop for water services including treatment, transfer, storage and disposal. XPS will function as a wholly owned subsidiary of BBR, continuing to offer its proprietary water treatment products to E&P operators globally, while BBR will provide Permian Basin E&P operators with treatment services and water infrastructure.

Rawwater opens office in Houston to serve the oil and gas industry

Rawwater, a U.K.-based provider of contract research and consultancy services for facilities design, oilfield souring and well abandonment, opened an office in Houston, Texas. The new office will be headed up by Don Maynard, an experienced consultant in project and technical management for novel technologies relevant to the oil and gas industry. Rawwater’s services to the oil and gas industry include reservoir souring and simulation. Using its thermal viability shell predictive souring model, the company analyzes operational and reservoir souring data to enable clients to make informed and cost-effective decisions relating to material selection, production and remedial chemical treatment. Rawwater is also advancing the use of bismuth plugs as an alternative to cement for sealing abandoned oil wells and securing failed abandonments that had previously been plugged with cement.

Pilot Flying J expands its water hauling capabilities

Pilot Flying J announced two partnerships to grow its service offerings in the E&P sector. Through a joint venture and an acquisition, Pilot Flying J extends its core logistics business with additional water, sand and crude hauling capabilities.

In June, Pilot Flying J, Produced Water Transfer LLC and Complete Vacuum and Rental LLC formed PDPS LLC, a new company operating under the name PWT LLC. PWT will leverage its fleet of tanker trucks and network of saltwater gathering pipelines and disposal facilities to provide saltwater transportation and disposal services to the oil and gas sector. The new company will focus on providing services to producers in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Pilot Flying J will own a majority of the business, which will be managed by Produced Water Transfer’s President and CEO Steve Kent and his management team.

In July, Pilot Flying J — through its PWT Joint Venture — purchased Bridger Environmental LLC, a saltwater transportation and disposal company, from propane supplier Ferrellgas Partners L.P. Pilot Flying J also acquired Ferrellgas Partners L.P.’s crude transportation business operating under their Bridger Transportation subsidiary. Pilot Flying J and PWT will expand their tanker fleet and acquire 10 saltwater disposal wells and two crude oil pipeline injection terminals in Wyoming.
