Xylem appoints new senior executive

RYE BROOK, N.Y. — Xylem Inc. has brought Jayanthi (Jay) Iyengar to its team as senior vice president and chief innovation and technology officer, according to a press release.

Iyengar will oversee research and development (R&D), technology and innovation efforts, noted the release. She will also focus on driving growth with a customer-driven innovation agenda.

“Breakthrough technology and innovation together will be a significant growth engine for Xylem,” said Patrick Decker, Xylem president and chief executive officer, in the release. “The combination of Jay’s deep technological expertise, strong business acumen and proven track record of successfully managing global R&D organizations will help us accelerate the development and execution of our innovation pipeline.”

Decker adds in the release, “Importantly, Jay brings a passion to the advancement of sustainable solutions through technology that aligns well with Xylem’s mission to solve the world’s most challenging water issues.”

Iyengar previously served as group vice president of engineering and technology for Eaton Corporation’s Aerospace Group and chief technology officer, stated the release. She has also worked for Chrysler Group and served on the board of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society.
