Xylem to work with Vietnam on irrigation project

SINGAPORE — The company will cultivate a reliable water source at the Phu My pumping station for 5,600 hectares of land.

SINGAPORE — Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has awarded Xylem Inc. a $1.7 million contract for a new irrigation project, according to a press release.

The project includes the design and supply of advanced water pumping technologies, noted the release. The company will cultivate a reliable water source at the Phu My pumping station for 5,600 hectares of land.

The initiative is part of the ministry’s Strengthening Water Management and Irrigation Systems Project, stated the release. The Phu My station draws water from the Duong River to irrigate and improve agricultural land.

“We are proud to install the first submersible pumping solution in B?c Ninh province,” said Robin Wong, general manager for Xylem Singapore and regional marketing director with Greater Asia for Xylem, in the release. “Our Flygt pumping technology is renowned for consistently delivering optimum performance; Our solution will help ensure a reliable irrigation system for this area which is crucial for local agriculture enterprises.”

The solution will serve the region’s 25,000 people, reported the release. It has a capacity of 39,000 cubic meters per hour.
