Sulzer, ABB announce UK service agreement

Sulzer was selected to provide the U.K. market with maintenance and repair services for ABB medium and high voltage motors and generators. The agreement provides ABB customers with direct access to the specialist skills and extensive facilities of Sulzer’s service centers in Birmingham, England and Falkirk, Scotland. Sulzer will provide inspection, remedial work, modifications, repairs and rewinds of ABB’s large machines rated at 6.6 kV and above. All repairs will be completed to ABB approved standards using original spare parts.

Dow, NASCAR collaborate on water tech innovation

Leaders from the Dow Chemical Company, NASCAR, Richard Childress Racing (RCR), the University of Arizona and Pima County Wastewater Reclamation met in Tucson to discuss local water challenges and solutions to effectively address water scarcity. The event coincides with World Water Day on March 22, and brought together industry, business, government and academic representatives to explore how alliances and collaborations can further advance technology, processes and strategies that conserve, reclaim and renew resources.

CNP acquires pre-digestion phosphorus recovery technology

CNP – Technology Water and Biosolids Corporation, a division of Centrisys Corporation, expanded its nutrient recovery technology portfolio by acquiring an exclusive worldwide license for CalPrex™, a calcium phosphate (brushite) recovery technology, from Nutrient Recovery & Upscaling LLC (NRU) of Madison, Wisconsin.

The CalPrex technology investment allows CNP to gain global market share as the need for sustainable nutrient management solutions for wastewater increase. Calprex™ is a calcium phosphate recovery technology process that solubilizes sludge’s phosphorus and recovers it as brushite, a plant ready fertilizer that can be used without further processing.

UGSI acquires PAX Water Technologies

UGSI Solutions completed its acquisition PAX Water Technologies. The combination of PAX Water and UGSI Solutions creates the industry’s only complete set of water quality solutions focused on water distribution networks. UGSI Solutions is the only company offering the full set of “outside the fence” water quality solutions, including tank mixing, THM removal, and disinfectant residual management.

McLean Group advises Seaport Environmental on sale

PSC Industrial Outsourcing LP (PSC) acquired non-hazardous water recycling facility Seaport Environmental. The McLean Group’s Water, Wastewater and Environmental (WWE) division served as the exclusive transaction advisor to Seaport. PSC is a leading national provider of industrial cleaning and environmentally sensitive services to America’s energy infrastructure with more than 2,300 employees across 90 locations.  The acquisition adds regional facility based water treatment to existing mobile capabilities, giving PSC’s customers critical flexibility to meet treatment and recycling requirements.

SciDev signs two-year contract with Peabody Energy

SciDev Ltd signed a two-year contract with Peabody Energy, for the supply of an OptiFlox System and associated chemicals at the 12 mtpa Wilpinjong thermal coal mine in New South Wales. The total value of the contract is estimated at $350,000 to $400,000 per annum and significantly strengthens SciDev’s growing revenue base. Peabody will pay a monthly leasing fee for use of the OptiFlox System at Wilpinjong, along with the purchase of associated wastewater treatment chemicals.

To support the contract with Peabody and develop further business in NSW, the company appointed an executive with considerable experience in industrial wastewater treatment, particularly in the NSW coal, metalliferous and quarrying industries.
