H2O Innovation expanding activities in Mexico
H2O Innovation Inc. is expanding its business activities in Mexico through a partnership agreement to use the technologies, experience and references from their projects to benefit the new Mexican entity, H2O Innovación de Mexico S.A. de C.V. The new entity will be under the leadership of Sr. Diego Pasadas, a chemical engineer with 19 years of experience in the water treatment industry, most notably in membrane filtration.
AriZona Beverages available for all Lavit cold drink dispensers
Drink innovator, Lavit LLC has partnered with America’s number one ready-to-drink iced tea company, AriZona Beverages, to expand its offering of single serve cold beverages. Using Lavit’s patented single serve cold beverage technology, AriZona products will now be available in Lavit’s recyclable capsules.
Water Standard receives Shell Contract Award
Water Standard secured a contract with Shell Offshore Inc. for the design, fabrication, testing and shipment of an Ultrapure Water Generation Package (UWGP) to be integrated on Appomattox, Shell’s floating production system located in deepwater, Gulf of Mexico. The UWGP includes compact reverse osmosis and membrane deaeration coupled with a demineralization process using continuous electrodeionization.

Nestle Waters North America appoints sustainability officer
Nestle Waters North America appointed a well-known sustainability innovator, Nelson Switzer, as vice president and chief sustainability officer. Nelson has more than 15 years of experience in environmental and social sustainability in Canada, the U.S. and Europe with expertise in sustainability strategy development, integration and implementation.
CH2M’s Bruce Johnson named IWA Fellow
Bruce Johnson of CH2M, a global technology leader for wastewater simulation, was recently named an International Water Association (IWA) Fellow for his distinguished career and contributions to the water profession. The program recognizes extraordinary individuals within the community of water professionals and enlists their commitment and skills in advancing the knowledge and practice of water management through IWA.
APWA appoints new trustee
CH2M’s vice president and client account manager, Gordon Garner, was appointed by the American Public Works Association (APWA) as a Trustee on the American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists Board of Directors for the term August 2015 to December 2018. Through this volunteer leadership position, Garner will represent APWA and help the organization fulfill its mission to develop and support the people, agencies and organizations that plan, build, maintain and improve America’s communities.
AWWA board of directors selects treasurer
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) Board of Directors elected Aurel Arndt, a 30-year AWWA member, as the association’s treasurer. Arndt was most recently the CEO and chief financial officer at Lehigh County Authority, a water and wastewater utility in Allentown, Pennsylvania. For AWWA, he is currently the chair of the Water Utility Council, which is tasked with setting legislative and regulatory priorities and positions.

Icon Technology Systems appointed Philip Fralix as vice president of its new Food Service division. Philip has been an active member of the water filtration industry for more than 33 years. He is certified by the Water Quality Association as a Master Water Specialist, and he brings extensive commercial, industrial and residential water filtration experience to Icon.

Xylem’s Wedeco celebrates 40-year legacy
Wedeco, a brand of leading global water technology company, Xylem, a leading global water technology company, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2016. Wedeco is a pioneer in chemical-free, sustainable water treatment technologies. There are more than 250,000 Wedeco ultraviolet disinfection and ozone oxidation systems operating worldwide in private, public utility and industrial applications.
H2M ranked one of top firms in nation
A ranking by the Architectural Record places H2M architects + engineers at number 188 out of 300 top architecture firms in U.S for 2015. The company was also ranked 277 on the 500 Top Design firms of 2015 by the Engineering News-Record. President and CEO Rich Humann announced the news at H2M’s third annual company-wide meeting in February. The company grew by nearly 18 percent in 2015 and added 75 new employees to its staff of about 300. The firm expects to continue this growth in 2016.

Rare certification for H2M employee
H2M architects + engineers’ Senior Project Scientist Travis Irving possesses a rare certification, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Irving is an expert in the science of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people at work and in their communities. He is the only H2M employee to possess this internationally recognized certification. There are 6,863 CIHs in 32 countries.
Leading provider of ClO2 for water treatment adopts new name
ADOX Water Technologies, formerly DuPont Water Technologies, a specialist in chlorine dioxide (CIO2) water treatment, will continue to be a major force in driving ClO2 technical innovation. The ADOX name, taken from one of this business’s well-known brands, now stands for the most complete ClO2 water treatment solution available and is now a total ClO2 solution.
AMTA and AWWA announce awardees at Membrane Technology Conference
The American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) and the AWWA announced four awardees at the Membrane Technology Conference & Exposition in San Antonio. Winners included: Robert Hildreth, Robert O. Vernon Operator of the Year Award; Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System; Membrane Facility of the Year Award; Jim Lozier, Water Quality Person of the Year Award; and Ovivo USA, Membrane Exhibit of the Year Award.
GE and Statoil announce winners in challenge to reduce water usage
Powering Collaboration, a joint technology-focused program from GE and Statoil, has chosen four winners for the second Open Innovation Challenge designed to utilize crowd sourcing to find solutions that reduce fresh water in shale oil and gas production. Winners include: Ahilan Raman for an integrated technology that removes total organic compounds and separates remaining compounds by creating ice crystals; Anthony Duong for a nano-sponge; Karen Sorber for a mechanical evaporation technology that purifies waste water from any source; and Chunlei Guo for laser technology.
Technology for automated microbiological water quality measurement wins award
Vienna Water Monitoring Solutions was selected as “First Place Innovator” in the Industrial Water Sector at the International Water Summit 2016 in Abu Dhabi for their microbiological water quality measurement technology. It takes 15 minutes to get a result on the actual bacterial contamination of water using this technology. Traditionally, a classical lab test on bacterial contamination takes 24 to 72 hours to deliver a result.
