Endress+Hauser to build Texas Gulf Coast campus
Endress+Hauser announced it plans to build a new more than 100,000-square-foot Gulf Coast Regional Center Campus in Pearland, Texas, in the Houston area. The campus will be located in Pearland’s lower Kirby District near the company’s oil and gas customer base. Construction is planned to begin in 2019 with completion by the end of 2020. The new campus will include areas for calibration, repair and training space, which will include a new state-of-the-art PTU (Process Training Unit). It will house the global marketing and applications group for SpectraSensors’ gas analysis business and contain office space for approximately 110 employees including Endress+Hauser’s sales and service provider, Vector Controls & Automation Group.
Responsiveness to the local climate, use of regionally authentic interior and exterior materials and attention to scale are critical to the success of the project. The building will be designed under the guidelines of a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Silver project, as stipulated by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Dow Microbial Control launches new water treatment biocides for hydraulic fracturing
Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of DowDuPont Specialty Products, launched two new products within its AQUCAR Water Treatment Microbiocides portfolio: AQUCAR TN 250 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide and AQUCAR 7140 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide.
“Shale basins are dependent, in part, on their surrounding environment,” said Joe Ferrara, global industry leader for energy and water at DuPont Industrial Biosciences. “As demand for oil increases in the Canada, Bakken and Marcellus Basins, so has the need for biocide products that can perform under extreme temperatures.”
Engineered to meet the demands of cold climates, AQUCAR 7140 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide is effective in controlling problematic microorganisms across a variety of conditions. The glutaraldehyde-ADBAC blend is efficacious over a broad temperature and pH range and resists freezing at temperatures as low as minus 40° F. Compatible with most fracturing fluid additives, the biocide is effective in controlling slime-forming and sulfate-reducing varieties of bacteria and helps enhance operational sustainability.
AQUCAR TN 250 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide is an antimicrobial agent designed to control bacteria under reservoir conditions for months and is winterized to minimize freezing at temperatures as low as minus 40° F. When co-dosed with glutaraldehyde or DBNPA, the solution provides compatibility with high temperatures, high salinity, fracturing fluid additives and subsurface rock matrix and helps minimize and delay the impact of souring, microbial induced corrosion, biofouling and plugging. The product also helps reduce amounts of contaminated flowback and produced water. Both microbial control products are approved for use by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, with additional registrations underway.
United Rentals receives Frost & Sullivan award for mobile water treatment solutions
United Rentals Inc. announced that its EC-250 Mobile Treatment Trailer and CL-250 Mobile Clarifier won Frost & Sullivan’s 2018 New Product Innovation Award for mobile water and wastewater treatment. The solutions reduce heavy metals and suspended solids in waste streams by up to 99 percent without chemicals. In announcing the award, Frost & Sullivan called the EC-250 Mobile Treatment Trailer and CL-250 Mobile Clarifier “cutting-edge, innovative treatment solutions that pair with quick and efficient service and expertise to treat water in industrial and municipal settings.” Both technologies were developed by BakerCorp, which was acquired by United Rentals in July to expand its fluid solutions specialty rental business.
The EC-250 Mobile Treatment Trailer delivers advanced filtration capabilities through patented electrocoagulation (EC) technology, which uses electrical current to reduce contaminants in waste streams. United Rentals’ EC technology minimizes the need for chemical additives and requires a smaller footprint than conventional chemical treatment systems. To enhance the removal of suspended solids following EC-250 treatment, the company launched the CL-250 Mobile Clarifier system, which has a slant-plate design that creates 10 times more settling area than the system footprint, allowing one unit to provide the same treatment capacity as a 42-foot fixed installation clarifier. The CL-250 decreases the number of mobile clarifiers needed, reducing costs, mobilization time and project footprint.
