Who's Who in Water Treatment, December 2014

History

Water-Right is a family-owned water treatment manufacturer which started in 1959 when founder Glenn Gruett started supplying equipment to Wisconsin’s plumbing trade. The company flourished because of its use of man-made zeolite crystals in equipment to treat rural Midwestern water, much of which contained hardness, high amounts of iron and manganese, and in some cases had low pH.

In the 1960s, Water-Right used polystyrene resin for city water applications and a zeolite crystal media manufactured by Arizona Minerals for rural waters where multiple water problems usually existed. Water-Right grew slowly throughout the Midwest to the East Coast in the 1980s. During this time, Gruett’s three sons joined the business to assist in sales and operations.

In 1985, Gruett purchased the zeolite manufacturing rights and equipment from Arizona Minerals and now distributes their Crystal-Right™ zeolite throughout North America, Europe, Russia and the Pacific Rim, specializing in treating problem water that contains hardness, iron, manganese and low pH conditions.

In 2010 Water-Right acquired WaterCare, a third generation family-owned manufacturer with over 46 years of water treatment experience. Under the restructuring the company’s branded products were merged into Water-Right, which continues to manufacture a robust line of WaterCare branded products.

In 2013, Water-Right acquired Custom Care Water Technologies, a company dedicated to providing reliable, competitively priced commercial and industrial water treatment systems. Through the acquisition, the products were merged into Water-Right’s commercial and industrial division under the CustomCare® brand. This new brand has a support staff made up of experienced water treatment professionals ready to assist from application to design, specification writing and costing, submittal preparation and order entry, to construction and shipment of the system.

Mission

Water-Right is committed to becoming the premier provider and manufacturer of high quality water treatment equipment for both home and industry. Product integrity, outstanding customer service and dealer support are the foundational pillars of the company. Coupled with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and an eye toward the future, Water-Right stands ready to take innovative water treatment to the next level.

On the market

The Sanitizer Series® was developed for problem well water and was first introduced to the industry in 1998, followed by the Sanitizer Plus in 2007. There are four unique features and designs to the Series:

  1. Crystal-Right media
  2. Unique control valve design
  3. Patented chlorine generator to clean and sanitize the media (the chlorine is produced from the chloride part of the salt).
  4. A system analyzer (patented) which measures the brine concentration and will alarm if the brine becomes too weak.

New to the market

Water-Right also offers a full line of Evolve® and WaterCare® branded products which are distributed through the company’s professional level dealer channel, Clear Choice Water Group. The Evolve and WaterCare products boast patented features that significantly differentiate them from the competition.

In the news
