WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Richard Henkle of Garden City, Kansas, has received a Life Member Award from the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) for his special service in the furtherance of the groundwater industry as well as NGWA, according to a press release.

Henkle attended his first NGWA (then named the National Water Well Association) Annual Meeting in 1956 and prior to serving as NGWA Board president in 1987, he assisted the Association for many years in various capacities, stated the release.

A founding member of the American Ground Water Trust, Henkle also served on its board, donated to the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation (NGWREF) and has led several groundwater delegations to Costa Rica, reported the release.

The release added that Henkle began his 60-year groundwater industry career as a driller’s helper while still in junior high school.

The award will be presented in December at the 2014 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, noted the release.
