Early registration for AWWA’s symposium ending soon

DENVER — The American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) sixth International Symposium on Waterborne Pathogens will take place April 13-14 in Savannah, Georgia.

DENVER — The American Water Works Association (AWWA) announced that the early registration for AWWA’s sixth International Symposium on Waterborne Pathogens ends March 16, according to a press release.

The event is scheduled to take place in Savannah, Georgia, April 13-14, stated the release.

The release reported that AWWA members are encouraged to register online before the deadline to receive $175 off a one-day registration or a $200 discount off a full-conference registration.

AWWA encourages everyone, including nonmembers, planning to attend the event to register by March 16 at 5 p.m. MST, and student, one-day registration and full-conference registration rates are available, continued the release.

The release reported, “With emerging, nonregulated pathogens becoming more of a concern, as evidenced by continuing and recent outbreaks of Cryptosporidium, legionella and Naegleria fowleri, the symposium will focus on the exchange of updated information and front-line ideas relating to these critical public health issues.”

Key presenters of the International Symposium on Waterborne Pathogens, noted the release, include: Cesar Cordero, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Guide for On-site Treatment Alternatives, will address legionella; and Dr. Michael J. Beach, chief of the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
