Aramo has awarded a contract to Almar Water Solutions for the expansion of the Zuluf Water Treatment Project in the Al Khafaji district along the Gulf Sea shore in eastern Saudi Arabia. The project will increase treated water for injection into the Zuluf oil field to maintain well pressure and support production.

The expansion builds on the successful first phase of the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant, a strategic industrial facility launched in 2023 with a capacity of 185,000 cu m/d. With a total investment of $940 million, the second phase will add a new facility with a capacity of about 308,000 cu m/d.

The project shares a similar structure developed under a BOOT (Build–Own–Operate–Transfer) concession lasting until 2050. Together, both phases represent a scalable, long-term infrastructure solution designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality injection water with operational reliability and efficiency.

Almar has been selected to manage the technical, financial, and operational complexities of the project, providing secure water solutions for this critical industrial activity.

The expansion was awarded to the same special purpose vehicle (SPV) through an extension of the existing contractual framework, ensuring full continuity with the original concession structure. This structure comprises a joint venture between Almar, a leading party, and Al Jomaih Energy & Water Company.

The project is expected to proceed to a financial close, subject to customary conditions.
