NORTHFIELD, Ill. — McIlvaine Company released its "Water and Wastewater Treatment Chemicals: World Market" that predicts the power industry will buy 20 percent of the water treatment chemicals purchased by industries worldwide in 2015, according to a press release.
Power plants frequently select wastewater treatment systems with no discharge to waterways, and these zero liquid discharge systems use a lot of treatment chemicals and heat for evaporation, stated the release.
The release reported that municipal wastewater and drinking plants will purchase around $10 billion in chemicals during 2015.
Coal-fired power will be the biggest sector within the power industry and treatment chemicals are needed for boiler feedwater, cooling, wastewater and flue gas treatment, noted the release.
