LATHAM, N.Y. — Brown and Caldwell along with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) were awarded the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) Award for Excellence in Innovation at this year's Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) for their work to improve the flood grouting process in Seattle.
The project has improved the frequent sanitary sewer backups and overflows that SPU had to deal with in the past, decreasing sewage volumes by 66 percent and peak flow rates by 41 percent.
In this podcast, Water Technology talks to Bob Jacobsen, Brown and Caldwell's senior engineer, about the project, its impact on the industry and what he learned for future flood grouting work.
