Dow Water & Process Solutions has launched a fine particle filter for the pre-treatment of ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes, as well as filtering produced water for oil and gas.

The TEQUATIC PLUS filter combines cross-flow filtration with centrifugal separation and has been designed to handle a wide range of difficult-to-treat feedwaters.

The filter is produced by Clean Filtration Technologies (CFT), which became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company in April 2012.

John Patrin, CFT strategic marketing manager said advantages include “the ability to filter water with high and variable solids with almost no maintenance, fouling and backwash cycles, and no need for cartridge filters. This adds up to lower maintenance and consumables costs, and very high uptimes – all of which contribute to a lower cost of ownership.”

The product can be used as an alternative or a complement to traditional filtration technologies, according to the manufacturer. The TEQUATIC PLUS filter is currently available in various flow rates with filter cut-offs from 10 - 55 microns.
