Prairie Lithium to install DLE unit
Key Highlights
- Prairie Lithium will install a direct lithium extraction (DLE) unit in Canada.
- The unit will produce highly purified lithium chloride.
Prairie Lithium will install Aquatech’s direct lithium extraction (DLE) unit for its 4.6 metric tonne (MT) Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) resource base in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Aquatech will deploy Li-Pro™ Lithium Selective Sorption (LSS) technology under a licensing platform to produce highly purified lithium chloride.
A modularized unit consisting of four full-scale Li-Pro columns will arrive at Prairie Lithium's production facility during summer 2026. It will be the largest DLE ever deployed in North America. Phase 1 of production is secured under a binding offtake with Hydro Lithium (South Korea).
Li‑Pro LSS has demonstrated consistent lithium recovery across more than 15,000 DLE cycles over 4 years, processing over 1 million bbl of Arkansas Smackover brine.
Prairie Lithium’s southeast Saskatchewan resources cover more than 345,000 acres of subsurface permits. The first phase of production is fully permitted, and construction is underway with production pads being built to support scalable lithium extraction.
