TRENTON, N.J. — Brita and PUR have partnered with TerraCycle to allow consumers to recycle their filters and reduce landfill waste, according to a press release.

Participants can earn points for every piece of waste sent to TerraCycle, noted the release. The points are redeemable for charitable gifts, products or monetary donations to nonprofit organizations and schools.

Those interested in recycling can sign up at terracycle.com, noted the release. Users can download UPS prepaid shipping labels to use when sending in their filters. TerraCycle will upcycle the filters into new products.

The companies also have recycling programs for their pitchers, bottles, dispensers, faucet mounts and packaging, reported the release.
